Dispenser/ Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Dispenser to join our healthcare team in 2 of our 5 GP Surgeries. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing and dispensing medications, supporting patient care, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy protocols. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with pharmacy technician experience or those interested in developing a career in pharmacy services. The Dispenser will play a vital part in delivering safe and efficient medication management within our facility.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense prescribed medications accurately in accordance with pharmacy guidelines
  • Assist GPs with medication administration and patient care activities
  • Maintain precise records of dispensed medications and patient information
  • Ensure the proper storage, labelling, and handling of pharmaceuticals
  • Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reordering supplies as needed
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control procedures
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organised, and compliant dispensary environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or in a similar role is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of medication administration processes and patient care protocols
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in dispensing medication
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Medical Secretary - Brill

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a medical secretary to join our friendly, forward-thinking and supportive team at Unity Health. This would be a part-time role across 5 days and would be mainly based in Brill plus travel to another site 1 day per week. This busy yet rewarding role requires excellent attention to detail, team working skills and a responsible attitude. You will need to be able to remain calm under pressure, multi-task, have great computer skills and be very organised. Due to the nature of the role, flexibility to work extra hours to cover for holiday and sickness is required.

Job responsibilities

Main duties of the job

1. To generate hospital referrals using the electronic referral system and manual referrals to the community using AccuRx. This involves copy typing, generating specific referral forms and general instructions from the clinician. Ensuring that these are done in a timely manner. 2. To manage both electronic referral system worklists and EMIS worklists.

3. To receive and deal with telephone enquiries and emails received to the generic email address and take action or pass on messages, as appropriate.

4. To produce copies of patient records from the computer system and photocopying of paper medical records for insurance reports, solicitors and other requesting parties. Manage completion of any travel claim forms, private health forms and firearms licensing forms.

5. Raise the appropriate invoice covering any work for which the practice may make a charge. This will include insurance reports, reports for solicitors and private patients.

6. Chase queries at the hospital, understanding when things have gone down an incorrect pathway and re-address as necessary.

7. Action patient tasks sent to the secretarial groups within EMIS web, Docman and Klinik.

8. To input, extract and refer to information on the practice computer system.

9. To carry out any ad-hoc administrative duties as required by the senior management team or Partners.

10. To attend training courses and staff meetings as requested by the senior management . These may not be held during the normal working hours for the post

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a secretary preferably within the healthcare profession.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in primary or secondary care.

We are currently recruiting for part time Care Navigators/Administrators at a busy GP Surgery Based in Buckinghamshire. The shifts are a mix of mornings (08:00-13:30) and afternoons (13:00-18:30) and we do have all day shifts available.

We have vacancies in Thame and Chinnor and Brill Surgeries.

Unity Health is a 6 Partner, 5 site GMS practice located in Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire, with a growing patient list size of over 22K patients. Our five surgeries are located in Brill, Chinnor, Long Crendon, Princes Risborough and Thame.

We offer a full general practice service and provide more specialist services for children, pregnant women and those with long term conditions such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease and high blood pressure. We offer contraception advice as well as travel advice and immunisations.

This busy yet rewarding role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail and a responsible attitude. You will need to be able to remain calm under pressure, multi-task, enjoy contact with people, be PC literate and have great organisational skills.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide a friendly patient-centered reception service, communicating appropriately with patients who need help and reassurance. Assisting them in the request for an appointment via our online Klinik portal.
  • Signpost and book patient appointments with the appropriate healthcare professional, navigating EMIS and utilising the appointment system.
  • Receive and deal with telephone enquiries and take action or pass on messages as appropriate.
  • Provide information and non-clinical advice, resolving problems where possible. Flagging anything out of your scope to the on-site clinician.
  • Registering new patients, ensuring they fall within our catchment area.
  • Ensuring that any communication that is urgent for the day has been actioned accordingly, this may be from the District Nurse Team, via Practice Note on EMIS, Palliative Care, Nursing Home etc.
  • Administer requests for repeat prescriptions or handing out repeat medication (site dependent)
  • Ensure all information is correctly entered on the computer system including scanning/filing incoming letters into patient records via Docman.
  • Contacting patients, where requested, regarding test results, making appointments etc
  • Maintaining administration tasks such as keeping on top of registration packs, medication slips, appointment slips etc.
  • Supporting colleagues in carrying out premises checks, such as monthly fire extinguisher checks/weekly fire alarm checks/tap running for legionella’s.
  • Ensure patients are charged appropriately for any private services and accounting for the money taken.
  • Actively promote practice developments and initiatives to patients, for example electronic prescriptions (EPS), Patient Access and Klinik to request an appointment.
  • Follow all practice protocols/procedures/guidelines
  • Suggest process improvements that can be made to the practice systems
  • Ensure that you are working in accordance with all of the practice’s policies and procedures (including confidentiality, information governance and infection control), as well as the Staff Handbook.

Due to the nature of the role, flexibility to work extra hours to cover for holiday and sickness is a necessity. Although you will be expected to sometimes work across all five sites, you would be based at a maximum of two of them.
